First Post of 2012

So basically i have not made any posts lately because the teams i am primarily interested have not been on tv like the Padres and their stupid Fox deal where basically half of San Diego cannot watch. A Padres game recently was on courtesy of WGN and that made me want to get back on this blog thing about all of the San Diego sports.( at least the teams i like). Today was a big day for sports including everything from USA soccer to Stanley Cup to NBA finals. There was also the NBA draft lottery where i now know that it is fixed by New Orleans winning the lotto and getting the top pick. New Orleans Hornets are threatening to leave not to mention they are league owned... suspicious much. My Sactown Kings walked away with the 5th overall pick, Andre Drummond should be the pick, 6'10 center with great defensive ability and a high ceiling. Now to the games:

USA vs Brazil- Brazil and all their cry baby players came to Washington D.C. and put a whooping on the yanks in their "wheres waldo" uniforms. The score was 4-1 and although it looked as though the Americans would come back, none of the shots got through.

L.A Kings vs New Jersey Devils- Stanley Cup finals are here and once again no Canadian teams... hahahaha. The Kings won in overtime 2 to 1. I'm rooting for the Devils here as I'm a Duck fan and by law i can not root for the Kings.

Boston Rondos vs Miami Big Two - Basically a great game by Rondo could not carry the Celtics to victory over the Heat in OT. Lebron and Wade are too much for any team right now. Somewhere Chris Bosh is working on his audition for Jurassic Park 4, that velasaraptor part is his for the taking. All jokes aside, a Spurs Heat finals looks more and more plausible.

Baseball news- Nothing much here but the Seattle Mariners put on a clinic by winning 21 to 8 against the Rangers. Carlos Gonzalez hit 3 home runs for the Rockies while the Marlins and White Sox continue to win.

PADRES- That probably should not be in caps. The Padres this season have been depleted with injuries and just are not scoring enough runs everywhere outside of Wrigley. The three game series with the Cubs started out real promising, the Padres hit FOUR HOME RUNS. The problem is the Cubs did the same and won 11 to 7. Its tough when we score runs, our pitching is down but when we don't score runs our pitching is solid. No consistency on either end and it is a major reason for the last place standing. The Padres got swept by the last place Cubs who going into the series lost 12 in a row. The season is going in the tank and the only thing to look forward to is the number 1 pick in next years draft. The 2012 draft is on Monday, look for the Padres (7th pick overall, 6 picks in the top 70) to go for a shortstop, outfielders and power arms. Good pitchers in this years draft and an intriguing shortstop from Puerto Rico who could be the next Hanley Ramirez in Carlos Correa.

For now that is all. I'm going to try to do this more often. Over and Out, GO PADRES!
