So every Friday Night im going to drop some knowledge on the five best and most intriguing NFL games of the week and who will win and what players are poised to have a big fantasy impact. For starters, my prediction of the Packers winning came true only i chose way too low of a score. If you had either Rodgers or Brees your fantasy teams are sitting pretty good going into the weekend.
The first game i will talk about is one that if played 3 years ago, would be considered probably the worst game of the week, the Detroit Lions at Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This game features a fearsome Lions defensive line and a young but solid offensive corp for the Bucs led by 3rd year player QB Josh Freeman. Both teams are expected to contend for a playoff spot but both are going to have to overcome huge roadblocks. I predict that the Buccaneers will win in a closely contested game 24 to 21. Freeman will be the star and make his case as a premier quarterback.
The next game is an AFC south matchup between the Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans. No Peyton Manning for the Colts so fantasy owners, FIX NOW. Kerry Collins starts for them and the Colts will probably struggle against an offensive attack that is in the top 5 in the NFL. Look for QB Matt Schuab to have a big day against the Colts. The running back Arian Foster of the Texans is one of the best in the league but he stupidly showed a picture of his X-ray on twitter and he has a hamstring problem. Word of advice... DONT PRESS SEND. I see the Texans winning big 28 to 7 thus proving that Manning is so valuable. They would probably go 13-3 with him and 3-13 without him.
How bout some Chargers Vikings in San Diego. Although not the best game of the week, it would be interesting to see if the Chargers can get the slow start monkey off their back and get a W. The Vikings will have an advantage in the running game, which they have every game, with Adrian Peterson. He put up an NFL record 296 rush yards the last time these two teams played and the Chargers got beat. Not this time. Rivers will go for the MVP this year and have a HUGE game and i have the Chargers winning 35 to 17.
This next is a combo, Dallas Cowboys at the New York Jets and New York Giants at Washington Redskins. The NFL for all its scrutiny this last summer got something right. Putting these matchups on September 11 is just what this country needs. I see the Cowboys offensive and defensive attack way too much for Sanchez and company. Cowboys win behind Felix Jones big ground game 21 to 14. The Giants have Eli Manning( YUCK) and the Skins lead with, well, who knows. They'll start Rex Grossman and see how it goes. Giants should take this game 24 to 17.
The game of the week is AFC north bitter rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road against the Baltimore Ravens. When you think fantasy, you generally think of offense. For this game tho, the defense might garner you the most points. A fast and brutal Steeler defense led by Head and Shoulders Troy Polamalu will look to stop Old Spice Spokesman Ray Lewis. Smelling good wont win them the game, as the Steelers win in a close low scoring game 17 to 13.
Well those are my picks and ill recap all the weekend sporting events including Balls Without Walls Dodgeball tournament in South Mission. Should be a good weekend. OVER AND OUT
