The Football Five

Hey What Up everyone, its Friday which means time to talk about the upcoming NFL weekend. Also by request i will break down the Aztecs game against Washington St. Lets get it started.
So there are three huge games in the NFL this weekend and they all expect to be great. There are also a bunch of games that look like there are lopsided match ups. I will change the format for the Friday post slightly. Im going to critique the top 4 games and also talk about an upset pick, and as always, highlight the fantasy players to watch for.
Game 1: Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers. This is my upset pick. I think that the 49ers being at home, can beat a Cowboys team that usually finds ways to lose. This game back in the 90s would of been game of the year but for the last 5-10 years, both of these teams have found ways to lose big games.
Fantasy: Start Miles Austin although reports of a nagging hamstring injury. Frank Gore might have a hard time running the ball but i think Alex Smith and the 49ers special teams will come up big.
Prediction: Cowboys 24  49ers 31
Game 2: Arizona Cardinals at Washington Redskins. This is a big impact game for both teams. Who ever wins this game gets off to a 2 and 0 start and will carry a lot of momentum. Both teams have new Quarterbacks who put on a show last weekend. The defense that shows up to play wins this game.
Fantasy: Start Kevin Kolb, hes familiar with the NFC East and has big targets in the pass game. Also start the two starting running backs from this game Beanie Wells for Arizona and former Cardinal Tim Hightower for the Skins.  Both backs had strong showings last week and look to build on their successes.
Prediction: Cardinals 17 Redskins 27.
Game 3: Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints. Heartbreak hit Bears LB Urlacher with the death of his mother but he returned to the team and is ready to do a Favre like performance after his father died a few years back. Bears shocked the Falcons last week and is looking to do the same to a high powered Saints offense. This will be a great game of strong defense vs strong offense.
Fantasy: Start Jay Cutler, yes the Saints like to blitz and Cutler gets hit a lot but he is showing improvement and completed a lot of passes last week. Also with WR Marques Colston going down last weekend for the Saints, start his replacement Robert Meachem. Brees throws a lot and Meachem stepped up last week and is now the starter.
Prediction: Bears 28 Saints 27.
Game 4: San Diego Chargers at New England Patriots. Brady vs Rivers, is it time to pass the torch as the best QB in the league? Maybe, but not yet. Brady put up 500 plus yards last week and looked amazing. The Chargers defense on the other hand, held Donovan Mcnabb to just 39 pass yards. This might come down to who wins special teams and i think the Chargers will show signs of great improvement.
Fantasy: Start RB Mike Tolbert. He had 3 touchdowns last week and looks for more. Start WR Malcolm Floyd. The Patriots secondary is not very strong and if they focus on Vincent Jackson, that will open up the field for the M80. Start one of the two tight ends on the Patriots either Gronkowski or Hernandez.
Prediction: Chargers 34 Patriots 31. Novak hits game winning field goal.
Game of the Week: Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons. the RETURN of Michael Vick. Vick turned the Falcons franchise around and then became doggone stupid. Well hes changed now and back to MVP form and i wonder how the fans respond to Vick. The Falcons got beat bad against the Bears last week but look to bounce back at home.
Fantasy: Start RB Michael Turner, the Falcons are committed to the run, and if he can run successfully than it will open up for Matt Ryan and the offense. Start RB Lesean McCoy for the Eagles. He is the primary running back and catches a lot of balls and being a dual threat wins fantasy match ups.
Prediction: Eagles 28 Falcons 17

Now as promised, its Aztecs time. QB Ryan Lindley and sophomore RB Ronnie Hillman lead this team and look to have a gigantic year and take the Aztecs to back to back bowl games for the first time in a long time. Lets see if the Aztecs can bring back the magic of the Darkside Defense that they had a few years ago because they are gonna need all the force they can get against a high powered offense from Washington St. The Aztecs record against Pac 12 schools is not good at all but this team has what it takes to change it. I see the Aztecs winning in a shootout and their defense stops WASU(Wazoo) on the last drive of the game.
Prediction: WASU 35 SDSU 42.

I could mention the Padres but they would probably lose. Who knows, Dodgeball season starts next Tuesday, LETS GOOOO.
